Orangutan House
In the orangutan house, you can experience orangutans, smooth-tailed adders, binturongs, or Aldabra giant tortoises in species-compliant enclosures. An articulated exhibition will introduce you to the tropical rainforest as a fragile and highly threatened ecosystem.
Africa
The African House houses four African elephants and a group of Mandrills . Large panoramic discs allow close observations while the animals use a variety of climbing and retreat options. Also rare nude balls can be seen here. The four-metre high visit platform offers an excellent overview of the facility.
Prof. Brandes house
The Prof. Brandes-Haus shows tree- inhabited mammals from three continents, including beard monkeys, woollen monkeys and guerezas. Koalas, two-finger faults, ball belts and a Sunda gavial are other highlights. In addition to other bird and mammalian species, weedless species, such as scorpions or hermitic cancers, complement the diversity.
Adjustable volume
In the Flamingovoliere, Cubaflamingos, Red Sichler and Rosalöffler can be experienced close to the skin. The tundravoliere houses European waders such as sand rainbow, river bankers and red legs. The Dresden Zoo, founded in 1861, is one of the oldest and most popular zoos in Germany and combines tradition with modern animal experiences. Around 1,030 animals from 205 species are waiting for unforgettable encounters: Kordofan giraffes, African elephants, koalas, Humboldt Penguiins or rare species such as gold tacins and woollen apes . Local and European small birds complete the experience. Four animal houses guarantee exciting observations even in bad weather.
In the Orang-Utan-Haus you can not only experience the human apes, aldabra rock turtles, eyeglass cures or bald totters. Also recommended is the accompanying exhibition, in which you get to know the tropical rainforest as a fragile and highly threatened ecosystem and get an insight into the way of life of the Orang-Utans. The biggest highlight of the house is certainly the young animal. Both the Binturongs and the Glattotters and Orang-Utans were young.
You can also discover a young animal at the Koalas. In addition to the koalas, there are not only lazy animals that move freely over the heads of the visitors, but also a variety of other endangered species, such as boar monkeys or a Sunda gavial.
