Details about the Planetarium

The Frankfurt Planetarium is a unique jewel that rises in a historic water tower in the Neuberesinchen district, originally built between 1872 and 1874. After a loving renovation and replacement of the water tank by an impressive 8 meter copper in 1978, the tower today shines as a place of dazzling over the universe, with a walkable interior up to the viewing platform at a height of 27 meters, which offers a breathtaking view of the city and the surroundings. The Planetarium houses a wide range of astronomical performances and was opened in 1978, with its star projector updated over the years to a ZKP II.

In the planetarium, visitors experience fascinating programs on various topics, which makes the planetarium become a “star theatre”. The demonstrations are aimed at different age groups, including special children’s programmes. The offers go beyond astronomy and include various fields of knowledge and special music programs.
